The Choice is Yours

The purpose of this senior project is to provide myself with a way to improve upon my coding skills and create a game I’m interested in exploring.

The game, Outlaws of Will, is a choice-based adventure game in which the player must weigh the choices being presented to them and choose the one with their optimal outlook. Whether that means becoming a healer or the general of an army, is up to them.

The game is mainly aimed at gamers who want a unique playing experience. My hope is that when they play this game, they’ll feel like their choices really do make a difference, and they’ll begin to take into consideration the consequences of their actions.

The goal for this project is to create a game which can be easily added onto later. Therefore, the top priority is getting a dialogue/choice template prepared, creating the intro section of the world/game, and beginning to incorporate player interactions. The basic world and interface layout will be completed for the MVP. This means having an interface design blocked out, alongside a basic pause menu, and a way for players to move throughout the world. For the Beta, a more detailed interface and rewards system should be present, along with a few textures, structures, and user interactions. Finally, for the launch, the game should be playable until the castle town, have an interact-able menu / inventory, working potion-smith pathway, and a developed world with textures (both self-made and acquired). This project will be worked on during Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for about 3 hours a day (9-10 hours a week). Some time conflicts may arise between classes, work, and the project so Sundays and Tuesdays will be left open in case a day is missed.
